RETREATS
A Few Days, Set Apart
From time to time, Haus Mannenberg becomes a place for something a little more considered.
Our small retreats bring together movement, time outdoors, thoughtful food and restorative treatments in the quiet surroundings of the Bernese Oberland. With no more than six guests at a time, each is deliberately intimate—leaving plenty of room for conversation, solitude and simply doing less.

DETOX & RENEWAL
Less About Abstaining. More About Restoring.
For us, detox is not about extremes.
It is a few days away from everyday habits and back to simpler things: nourishing food, regular movement, fresh mountain air, good sleep and time without an endless list of things to do.
The programme brings together guided activity and quieter moments, allowing the body to move, rest and recover without making every hour feel accounted for.
Nothing is about performance. The intention is simply to leave feeling rested, lighter and ready to return to everyday life with renewed energy.
MOVEMENT
Begin With The Body
Daily Gyrokinesis® combines flowing movement and breath to gently mobilise the body, encourage flexibility and create a sense of ease for the day ahead.
WELLBEING
Time to Restore
Two individual Susanne Kaufmann treatments offer dedicated time to slow down, while quieter moments throughout the day leave plenty of space for rest and renewal.
OUTDOORS
Walk it Out
Guided 5–7 km power walks take you into the landscape surrounding Haus Mannenberg, with routes adapted to the weather and conditions.
NOURISHMENT
Eat Well, Feel Well
Fresh, seasonal meals are thoughtfully prepared throughout the retreat, with a focus on nourishment, balance and the simple pleasure of eating well.
THE DAILY RHYTHM
Enough Structure. Plenty Of Space.
Mornings begin with movement, followed by a nourishing breakfast and time outdoors. After the day’s guided walk and lunch, the pace slows, leaving the afternoon open for individual treatments, reading, rest or simply enjoying the house.
As evening arrives, everyone comes together again around the table for dinner, followed by conversation, a short talk or guided relaxation.
There is a rhythm to each day, but never a feeling of being scheduled from morning until night. Everything has been considered, including the time to do nothing at all.
Around The Table
Food is an important part of the retreat, but never in the language of restriction or deprivation. We believe that feeling well begins with eating well—and that nourishing food should still be something to look forward to.
Throughout your stay, breakfast, lunch and dinner are freshly prepared with a focus on seasonal ingredients, balanced nutrition and simple, thoughtful cooking. The menu follows the natural rhythm of the retreat: fresh and energising when the day begins, satisfying after time outdoors and comforting as everyone gathers again in the evening. Nourishing snacks, herbal teas and water are available throughout the day whenever you need them.
Whenever possible, we look to the surrounding region and the changing season for inspiration. November brings its own ingredients, flavours and quieter way of cooking, allowing meals to feel connected to both the landscape and the time of year.
And while the food has been considered with the purpose of the retreat in mind, meals are not treated as another part of the programme to complete. They are moments to come together.
Breakfast unfolds slowly after morning movement. Lunch follows time outdoors. In the evening, everyone returns to the table to share dinner, conversation and whatever stories the day has brought with it.
There are no complicated rules and no sense of going without. Just fresh, nourishing food, prepared for you and given the time it deserves.
Because at Haus Mannenberg, the table has always been about more than what is served on it.
NOURISHMENT
WELLBEING
Time to Restore
Restoration is given as much importance as movement.
Throughout the retreat, quieter periods are deliberately woven into the day, creating time for the body to recover and the mind to settle. There is no expectation to fill these hours. Read by the fire, retreat to your room, spend time outside or simply enjoy the rare pleasure of having nowhere else you need to be.
Every guest will also experience two individual Susanne Kaufmann treatments in the intimate wellbeing room at Haus Mannenberg.
A Susanne Kaufmann Signature Massage offers dedicated time for the body to release tension and deeply unwind, while the Anti-Ageing Facial combines expert technique with Susanne Kaufmann’s considered approach to plant-based skincare. Each treatment is scheduled individually, allowing it to become a quiet moment within the wider rhythm of the retreat rather than another appointment in the day.
The philosophy behind the treatments feels particularly at home here. Rooted in the Alpine landscape and shaped by an understanding of nature, wellbeing and thoughtful ritual, Susanne Kaufmann shares many of the values that inspire life at Haus Mannenberg.
Treatments take place during the slower parts of the day, when others might be reading, resting or simply enjoying the house. Afterwards, there is nowhere you need to rush to and nothing you need to do next.
Because sometimes restoration begins not by adding something more, but by finally making space for less.
YOUR HOME FOR THE RETREAT
Eight Guests. One House.
For the duration of the retreat, Haus Mannenberg becomes home to a small group of no more than six guests. With around 280 m² of living space and more than 2,000 m² of private grounds, there is room to come together when you want to—and just as much space to disappear for a while when you don’t.
The house was never designed around the idea of a retreat, and perhaps that is precisely why it works so naturally as one. Its historic rooms encourage a gentler rhythm. Mornings begin around the table, afternoons drift between treatments, books and quiet corners, and evenings bring everyone back together as the light disappears behind the mountains.
Rather than moving between studios, treatment rooms and restaurants, much of the retreat unfolds under one roof. Movement takes place in the house, meals are shared around the table and treatments are enjoyed privately in our intimate wellbeing room. Outside, the surrounding landscape becomes an extension of the experience, with daily walks beginning close to home.
And while there are moments designed to be shared, togetherness is never expected. Retreat to your bedroom, settle into the library, find a place by the fire or simply spend an hour doing very little.
With only six guests, the atmosphere remains personal, relaxed and deliberately removed from the feeling of a conventional retreat hotel.
For a few days, the house is simply yours to settle into.
THE PROGRAMME
Four Days, Gently Planned
There is comfort in knowing that everything has been thought about—and freedom in knowing that not every moment has been filled.
Across four days, the retreat follows a gentle rhythm of movement, time outdoors, nourishing meals, individual treatments and rest. The programme is intentionally spacious, allowing each day to unfold naturally and leaving room to respond to the weather, the season and how everyone is feeling.
DAY ONE
Arrive & Exhale
Arrive at Haus Mannenberg in the afternoon and take your time settling into the house. Meet the small group you’ll be sharing the next few days with, enjoy something warm and begin to leave the journey—and everyday life—behind.
The first evening is deliberately gentle, with dinner around the table, an introduction to the retreat and time to simply arrive.
DAY TWO
Move & Restore
The first full day begins with Gyrokinesis® and a nourishing breakfast before heading outside for a guided power walk through the surrounding landscape.
After lunch, the pace slows. Individual Susanne Kaufmann treatments begin, while the rest of the afternoon remains open for reading, resting or enjoying the house.
Dinner brings everyone together again, followed by a relaxed evening session and time to unwind.
DAY THREE
Find Your Rhythm
By the second morning, the rhythm begins to feel familiar. Movement, breakfast and another walk outdoors lead into a slower afternoon of treatments and unstructured time.
There is nowhere else to be and very little that needs deciding. Everything has been arranged so you can simply follow the day as it unfolds.
The final evening is shared around the table, followed by a quiet closing session and one last night at Haus Mannenberg.
DAY FOUR
Leave A Little Lighter
The final morning begins slowly, with gentle movement and breakfast together.
There is time to enjoy the house once more, gather your things and take a little of the retreat’s quieter rhythm with you before departing late morning.
The aim is not to leave transformed.
Simply rested, restored and perhaps a little more aware of what feels good.
*The programme may be gently adapted according to weather, conditions and the needs of the group.
THOUGHTFULLY INCLUDED
Everything Taken Care Of
I’d make this a more substantial introduction to Thoughtfully Included, while keeping it warm and editorial rather than sounding like a package description:
From the moment you arrive, the details have already been considered. Your stay, meals, movement, treatments and daily programme are all included, leaving very little to organise and even less to think about.
Over the course of four days, everything follows a natural rhythm. Meals are prepared for you, movement and walks are gently woven into the mornings, treatments find their place in quieter afternoons and evenings are left for conversation, relaxation and time around the house.
There is no need to plan where to eat, book appointments or decide how to fill the day. We have taken care of those things in advance, while deliberately leaving enough space between them for the moments that cannot—and perhaps should not—be planned.
Because a retreat should feel like a retreat from the moment you arrive.
The idea is simple: unpack, settle in and allow the next few days to unfold.

Here I’d stop for a moment: we should decide the retreat-specific deposit/cancellation terms before publishing this accordion. I would not automatically use the chalet’s standard 50% / 30-day policy, because with only a handful of retreat places and third-party practitioners, cancellations affect you differently.
-
Absolutely. You do not need to attend with someone else.
The retreat has deliberately been kept small, creating a relaxed atmosphere in which guests can naturally spend time together while still having plenty of space for themselves.
